| I trust that you all will agree that we are very fortunate to be in possession of AHDAN Family Tree. Appreciation goes to Papaji for what he has accomplished. As one of my friends said Papaji and this project deserves a PhD.
I think you will find following interesting, this may or may not be anything to do with AHDAN (AIDHAN, ADHEN, EHDEN). On Page 3 of “A Glossary of the Tribes and Castes of the Punjab and North-West Frontier Province”:ADAN SHÁHÍ, a Sikh sect or, more correctly, order, founded by Adan Sháh, a disciple of Kanhyá Lál, the founder of the Sewápanthis.
Those of you who are not aware of Sikh history:
BHAI KHANIYA (1648-1718), was a Sikh of Guru Tegh Bahadur and was the founder of the Sevapanthi or Addanshahi sect of the Sikhs. Bhai Sahib was born in a Dhamman Khatri family of Sodhara near Wazirabad in Sialkot district (now in Pakistan). His father was a wealthy trader, but he himself being of a religious bent of mind left home when still very young and roamed about with saddhus and ascetics in search of spiritual peace.
A Glossary of the Tribes and Castes of the Punjab and North-West Frontier Province, Vol. II, A-K, Language Department, Punjab 1990.(Based on the Census Report for the Punjab, 1883, by the late Sir Denzil Ibbetson, K.C.S.I., and the Census Report for the Punjab, 1892, by Hon. Mr. E.D. MacLagan, C.S.I., and compiled by H.A.Rose.)LINKS: http://links.jstor.org/sici?sici=0015-587X(191206)23%3A2%3C261%3AAGOTTA%3E2.0.CO%3B2-Uhttp://www.sikhiwiki.org/index.php?title=Bhai_Kanhaiyahttp://www.sikhiwiki.org/index.php/Sevapanthihttp://www.sikhiwiki.org/index.php/Special:Search/Addanshahihttp://www.sarbloh.info/htmls/glossary.html |
